A veces se tiende a cometer el error de asociar “Blaze of Glory” a la carrera del grupo Bon Jovi cuando, en realidad, esta canción formó parte del segundo trabajo en solitario del cantante de la banda de Nueva Jersey, Jon Bon Jovi. Una canción que además de formar parte de un álbum homónimo también sirvió como banda sonora de la película ‘Young Guns II’ -traducida en España como ‘Arma Joven II’.
La intención original del director de la cinta -Geoff Murphy- fue la de que el tema central de la banda sonora fuese “Wanted Dead or Alive”, una de las canciones incluidas en el popular ‘Sleepery Went Wet’. Sin embargo, Jon prefirió hacer un trabajo conceptual alrededor de la temática del western. “Blaze of Glory” se concibió como la continuación de “Wanted Dead or Alive”.
El tema en cuestión ganó un Globo de Oro en la categoría de Mejor Canción Original y también recibió una nominación al Oscar en la categoría de Mejor Canción de Película.
